Are you familiar with the word “Anthropocene”? This unofficial term is gaining popularity, and it is used to describe the most recent unit of geologic time, when it has been proved that human activity has altered and made an impact on the Earth’s ecosystem and natural processes. The word comes from the combination of “anthropo”, which means “human” and “-cene”, a suffix that stands for “epoch” in geologic time.

The ever-growing need to leave behind unsustainable society models and move towards alternative systems, has opened the door for transformative action and sciences and made the importance of collaborative solutions evident. Sapiens is a joint initiative that aims to be an idea incubator and workshop for people to come together and share innovations, resources, and connections.

The “Collaborative actions symposium No. 1” will launch on October 14 in Amsterdam, as the first event in the run up to the official opening next year. The main goal is to demonstrate the value of such opportunities. There will be an open fair presenting the alternatives to engage in transformation, as well as a panel discussion with a focus on cooperative vision and action. The discussion will bring together experts with different takes on sustainable economy, food and energy production, conservation, development and justice. ECG Founder Christian Felber, also known as the “dancing economist”, will be performing and giving a key-note lecture on the relation and possibilities of people and planet.

Bring your own ideas and come network.
