Gran Canaria, Spain will host the I Ecoislas International Forum. This space was created for discussion and proposals of measures aimed at promoting a comprehensive transition towards a greener, more profitable, self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable regional development with an insular approach. The plenary sessions of this Forum will be led by Christian Felber, founder of the Economy for the Common Good (ECG), who has been a professor at various universities in Austria and UK.; Manuel Maqueda, professor of Circular Economy and Regenerative Economy at Harvard University, as well as CEO of SUPER; and Leen Gorissen, PhD in Biology specializing in Ecology, Transition Science, Regenerative Design and Bio-inspired Innovation, as well as founder of Centre4NI.

In addition, the event welcomes international, national and local speakers who will present good practices and discuss the needs and solutions provided in each of the four major areas that make up the program:

  • The circular and blue economy
  • Energy, water and mobility
  • Adaptation to climate change
  • Regenerative tourism.

The consequences of the pandemic, the energy and climate crisis threaten our present and our future. In these uncertain times, the International Ecoislas Forum will be a unique experience that enables participants to learn from world leading experts of various origins about the latest projects implemented on islands throughout the planet. The Forum is open to visitors interested in understanding the green employment challenge as a strategy to reduce unemployment; accessing specific information related to the four main themes; establishing collaborations between public, private and scientific institutions to promote innovative measures to face climate change; and knowing the policies aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change.

The I Ecoislas International Forum will take place at INFECAR, Gran Canaria, Spain on February 2-3, 2023.
